100 days of Keto – Goal Setting for weight loss

The 100 days of Keto challenge

A great way to keep the motivation when dieting is to set a goal. You will of course have your end game goal, most probably your goal weight. But, just as important is to have progress goals, such as 100 days of Keto.

For me, a progress weight goal wasn’t ideal, I felt it placed too much pressure on the numbers rather than the lifestyle change. So, as is common with Keto over on Reddit. I aimed for 100 days of strict ketosis, I didn’t start Keto with this goal in mind, in fact I was already at about day 25 when I decided 100 days was my goal.

As it turns out having just passed 205 days, 100 days flew by. If you need some social encouragement I recommend keeping an eye out for the regular 100 day challenge that is posted on Reddit. It’s a fun way to track your progress over the weeks and compare yourself to others on the same journey!  I did it, and although I had no issue sticking to my keto life by this point, I felt a part of something bigger, contributing my stats to the collective and reading through the experiences and turmoils that others were facing.

Providing support

If you’re feeling great on your personal journey maybe you can lend some encouragement to others who may not be feeling the Keto love so much. It may only take a few quick words of encouragement or sympathy to stop them falling off the wagon and accidentally eating an entire box of donuts…

If you’re not confident with 100 days of Keto, maybe try 30 days? You could also find something else that works for you. My non scale victories were always aiming to reach the next hole in my belt buckle. Then the next belt! I eventually changed to a belt with no holes because I couldn’t keep punching new holes into belts that were quickly reaching half way around me for the 2nd time!

What if I have a moment of weakness

If you do fail! Say you reach into the fridge and without looking you’ve put that chocolate bar in your mouth…Fear not! Adjust your eating for the day and Keto on!

One slip up is not going to ruin your journey, just don’t let it slip into 2,3,4 or event 10 times. Reach out for help if you need to. Join the #keto irc channel on freenode. Talk to others, we all feel weak at times but you need to learn to believe in yourself.

One day, it will click. For me that was early on. Maybe it wont for you. Maybe, just maybe keto isn’t for you. But no matter, KCKO, Keep Calm and Keto On. Once it does click, the keto/healthy lifestyle just become the norm.

You can do it. I’ve tried all sorts of diets in the past, I had some success on meal replacement shakes, losing 15kg. But once I stopped I was straight back into the high carb, large means and put it all on and then some in about the same time it took me to lose it.
